INTRODUCING:

The ALT Water Program : a comprehensive implementation and education program for High-Efficiency Alternate Water-Use Systems.

meet the family:

The greater Alternate Water family includes:

Graywater, Rainwater, Stormwater, and Reclaimed water (treated blackwater).

Now widely accepted as a core element of green infrastructure, Alternate Water-Use Systems give us our first, most practical and beneficial solution to the water supply issues facing us today: Use the water we already have available, much more efficiently.

achieve an impact:

Shift the delicate balance of water scarcity issues facing us today: Reduce freshwater use and the negative impacts of wastewater disposal on environmental health of local aquifers, waterways and soil biology.

focus

on efficiency:

Improper designs won’t save water.

New advances in control and distribution systems can increase irrigation efficiency astronomically while at the same time facilitating the integrated management of multiple water sources.

What is Alternate Water? : Graywater, Rainwater, Stormwater, and Reclaimed water (treated blackwater).

Graywater (wastewater from showers, sinks and laundry machines) accounts for almost half of all water used indoors.

Rainwater can be collected from roofs and redirected for storage in deep aquifers, ponds, and tanks of all kinds.

Stormwater is rainwater or other precipitation that has reached the ground and either infiltrates into the soil, is stored in ponds and streams, evaporates, or runs off.

Format #1: (24) 4-hour sessions (English and/or Spanish)

Format #2: (12) 8-hour sessions (English and/or Spanish)

In-house Training and Research Facilities: Located approximately 45 minutes drive north of San Francisco, California, USA at the Madrona Earth Bio-sphere for holistic arts.

Research Program: Provides a platform for the support of student innovation in the development and rapid prototyping of new and experimental system designs. Through the support of diverse stakeholders the ALT Water research program provides facilities and equipment for testing and analysis, and an administrative structure for strategic planning, budget allocation, revenue generation, and product development and publication.

Apprenticeship Program: Bridging the gap between novice trainee and successfully established installer is the focus of the ALT Water Apprenticeship Program, directly placing new program graduates with real-world design/build projects, and providing material, technical, legal and administrative function to new installers in the process of starting their own businesses,
